From the moment you join the group you have two involvement choices:
1) Project Lead - As a Project Lead (PL), you will have researched and presented a challenge that you have found through either Innocentive, other crowd-sourcing websites, faculty, or your own creative thinking. Armed with a challenge, you contact the Executive Board of InVenture for resources such as networking, experienced and talented problem solvers, other interested students, help with drafting a proposal, peer review, faculty, and legal assistance with intellectual property rights. InVenture serves as your gateway to a network of campus resources and talent. We put you in contact with prior challenge winners who have experience with technology transfer and proposal drafting. We give you the tools to win, period. We provide support and assistance from start to finish on your challenge proposal. In addition to this, we also provide a supporting network for those wish to commercialize their novel idea. It’s not uncommon for winners to start their own business ventures based on the solutions they develop. We offer a range of resources including contacts at start-up incubators, industry, SCOPE, marketing firms, and other local, city, and national start-up support networks.
2) Affiliate - As an Affiliate, you enlist yourself for work on projects proposed by Project Leads (PL’s). You become a critical component to the success of the solution by providing your skills, talents, and know-how in order to formulate a well-written proposal and well-thought solution. As an Affiliate, you become entitled to a percentage of the Intellectual Property produced by your project WorkTeam. When a PL contacts InVenture with a Notice-of-Work (NoW is essentially the PL formally telling the E-Board that they wish to recruit and utilize our group’s resources), we notify the certain Affiliates that he/she wishes to recruit for work on their project. Affiliates will be e-mailed and the WorkTeam will be assembled.
WorkTeams - WorkTeams are composed of Project Leads and Affiliates. Under InVenture, a WorkTeam is the component of the group that produces intellectual property and solutions to challenges.
E-Board - The InVenture E-Board are members who manage the resources and assets that the group provides its WorkTeams. They simply run the behind-the-scenes operations of the group such as resource network building, communications, and formalities with the University and SA governing bodies. We work to make the process easier for you while advocating for the growth, development, and success of our group and its’ WorkTeams. When you win, we win.
