Chris Paquette (B.S. Bioengineering ’12 / MBA): As a co-founder of InVenture, I’ve been working hard to get the group established. I’ve been working with University faculty and students, forming contacts, and bringing the resources together necessary to make InVenture possible.
As a Bioengineering major, I focus predominately on research in the field of Machine Learning and Bioinformatics. The research has led to my senior design project where we are in collaboration with Lourdes Hospital to develop new tests for predicting the recurrence of Lung Cancer using genetic micro-array data. These tests allow doctors to quantitatively discriminate between patients who need adjunctive chemotherapy treatment and those who do not. In effect, the test has the promise of saving lives and boosting the Quality of Life for cancer survivors. I also have won an Innocentive challenge, where I proposed and conceptually designed a system that can predict crop yield and manage fertilizer use on farms using blimp sensor platforms and machine learning algorithms.
Russell Drake (B.S. Mechanical Engineering ’12): As the other cofounder of inVenture I will focus mainly on providing members any advice to develop a feasible solution.
